Music Madness – The Walls Group – My Life

Hey Tay-Bugs (trying out a new name),

I want to welcome all of our new followers. Welcome to the colony Reasons To Resist, Arrvee Rusia, MovieBabble, Saturday Nite Reader and Milly Schmidt. I hope you guys stick around for awhile.

Now on to the blog…

I love when I discover new music. I have never been the type of person who stuck to one genre of music and I listen to a lot. I went to what was trending on YouTube, as I often do, and came across a video from The Walls Group. Now, this isn’t a group that I am familiar with. In fact, I’ve never heard of them before today.

At first, I wasn’t sure what genre this group fell under. It sounded like a little R&B but I had the feeling that it was a Gospel. They are indeed a Gospel group, but they are a part of the new gospel. The one where they mix catching beats to inspirational songs that can be played in church for the younger generation. I am in no way saying there is anything wrong with this method. Heck, I too rocked along with Kirk Franklin and I think he may have been the first one to mix R&B and Hip Hop into Gospel music.

The song was very catchy. It’s all about living your life. About people allowing you to live your life and about being yourself and not what others want you to be. I didn’t get the feeling that it was a full-on gospel song except for the hook, “He made me great, let me be great”.

That really was the only thing that leads it to be a gospel song.

The video was very fun. There were lots of colors and the words to the chorus were on the screen in big letters in a fun and playful way.

Overall, I could listen to the song again. The video held my attention and all four members have pretty good voices. I do think there needs to be a more clear definition of what genre they are singing if they are trying to break into a specific genre. It just wasn’t always clear.

Have you guys seen this video or heard the song. Tell me what you thought.

Music Madness – Cover Drive – Love Isn’t Easy

Love-bugs,

I was introduced to this group and video by a very good friend. We typically have the same taste so I tend to not doubt him.

This was a heartbreakingly beautiful song and the video went well with it. Clover Drive is made up of three guys and a girl. At least one of the guys sing, that I know of, but this song and video spotlighted the female. She sang every word with no assistance for her male band members and was the only one featured in the video. In fact, she was the only person in the video.

She’s beautiful and has a beautiful voice. The song was sweet and I am interested in what else this group has.

Music Madness – Grace Vanderwaal – So Much More Than This

Hey love-bugs,

So, I think this is the young girl who won one of those shows, X-Factor or America’s Got Talent. I’m not sure which because I don’t watch either, but I remember her on a talk show or two. Of course, she’s much older now.

I liked this song. I could catch myself listening to it on my phone. This song is all about how therapeutic music can be. It embodies that feeling that you get when you put your headphone on and turn your music up and just block out everything around you and everything going on with you.

That is one of the reasons I love music so much. Like reading a book, music can teleport you to another place. The video is very minimalistic. Not much going on. Grace goes into the studio to record and once she puts the headphones on everything disappears. She is in a field and making innocent discoveries. Not what I would expect if I were to close my eyes and just listen to the video, but it’s not so far-fetched that I can’t see the meaning behind it.

Do you guys like this song and video?

Music Madness – Demi Lovato – Tell Me You Love Me

Hey Love-bugs,

So, on December 1st, Demi Lovato dropped her new music video for her song Tell Me You Love Me.

I had never heard this song before. The video would be my first time. Throughout the video, we get a mini-movie. The video starts with Demi and Jesse Williams (yum) getting engaged. Demi very excitedly shares this information with her friend. They share a lot of romantic and sexy moments together and then everything turns upside down. Demi receives a phone call from a guy while in the bed with her fiance. When he first asks her who called, she replies no one. We all know that is never a good sign when someone doesn’t want to tell you who is on the phone. He asks again and eventually, she says a friend. The arguing begins and it continues.

When Jesse tells her she should pick someone else if she just wants to argue and she tells him that she wants him, the song starts. Tell Me You Love Me seems to be the perfect song for someone trying to fight for a relationship that may have reached its conclusion. That is what the video suggests (Jesse leaves Demi at the altar) and I thought the song meshed well with the concept of the video.

I actually had to look up and find out if Demi and Wilmer had been engaged before their breakup because I got the feeling that the song was reflective of their relationship. Alas, they were not and I could be reading into this too much.

It was a little heartbreaking to see how happy she was to be marrying him and he looked like he would have gone through with it but at the last minute, he admitted that he wasn’t ready and walked away. I hate when people do that. Like, why can’t you come to this revelation before the ceremony begins?

I really enjoyed both the song and video. Jesse is a really good actor and Demi got to show off her acting chops, as well as her amazing voice.

What did you guys think? Let me know.

Music Madness – Post Malone – Rockstar Ft 21 Savage

Hey Love-bugs,

I am back for another Music Madness Monday.

So, I watched the music video for Post Malone and 21 Savage’s Rockstar and I’m confused. I believe I heard the song before on one of those rare moments I turn my radio on. The song and video together makes no sense to me.

I didn’t interpret the song the way they clearly did. Swords and fighting and mass amounts of blood just didn’t seem like it went with the song. I guess it’s better than half naked women shaking their butts but… that is exactly the kind of video I picture when listening to this song.

It just made no sense to me.

What did you guys think of it? Let me know.

Music Madness – The Veronicas – On Your Side

Hey love-bugs,

First, our colony is growing. Welcome Milly Schmidt!

Second…

I’ve just discovered The Veronicas and I’m not even ashamed to admit it. It happens. There are a lot of artists out there that I know nothing about. Any-who, I watched their video On Your Side written and directed by Ruby Rose and I want to first say, how is it possible for a woman to be that beautiful?

I first got to know who Ruby Rose was from Orange Is The New Black. That’s when all of those memes started circulating about her turning females into lesbians. She’s gorgeous and was great in this video.

It follows what I can only guess is an unhealthy relationship between Rose and one of the ladies in the duo. Rose gets jealous and at one point her girlfriend leaves so she pops a bunch of pills.

That’s what I got from about four minutes.

I do like the song. It’s a really sweet and touching song and one I could listen to more than once.
