My Naive Mind Likes To Lie To Me

Hey there Love Bugs,

Why does creating a book cover have to be so darn hard? I mean, my mind continues to tell to me and make me believe that it’s going to be a piece of cake and that a great idea will come to me. I’m beginning to think that is a lie.

I am one hundred percent settled on the cover for my new series. I won’t change that for everybody, (Did I also mention that I am a little stubborn?) and I do love my cover for my first book. It didn’t come out exactly the way I wanted but it was close and I am proud of it.

I have to change it.

I am attached to it but because that book is apart of a series it has to go. The books in a series should have some sort of a theme for the covers. Something that lets everyone know that it is a part of a series. After some thought I know that I am not going to be able to come up with an idea for a cover that coincides with the first one. Plus, I really want to re-release that book but that discussion is for a different post.

I’ll also give you a different post explaining why I haven’t finished one series before starting a new one. (It’s a question I’ve gotten before.)

I know what I want from this new cover and I want to do it alone. In the words of my mother, “money doesn’t grow on trees.” So as much as I would love to go out back and pluck a couple hundred down and pay someone to give me exactly what I want, I can’t.

I did manage to design two covers but now I have the difficult task of picking one.

So I need your help.

This is the first cover I designed.

Now for the new covers. A little bit of information on what I was thinking when I designed these.

After I wrote my first book something was pointed out to me by a few people who read it. One of the sisters stood out more than the others. That was not my intention. But I realize that because I am writing about five individuals; six if you count their mother, that someone is probably going to get more focus and that book is going to turn out to be about that one sister. So I thought the covers should reflect that. Are you keeping up? I sure hope so.

So I designed these two covers with my standout sister in mind.

I could really use your help you guys. Which cover do you like? I’m not going to tell you which one I’m partial to.

Please comment and tell me which cover you think I should use.

Thanks a bunch Love Bugs.

Until next time, Love, Peace & Chicken Grease.
